'Game of Thrones' end with season 8 find out why

A ton of news came out of Saturday's HBOpanel at Television Critics Association but, as always, the most talked-about news revolves around Game of Thrones. Over the weekend, the president of programming at HBO, Casey Bloys, announced that season 8 of Game of Throneswill be the series' last.
Previously, it was announced that season 7 will be a shortened season of just seven episodes but Bloys said there has been no episode count set for the eighth and final season of the epic drama; the amount of episodes is totally up to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Other Game of Thrones news revealed that season 7 won't premiere for a while — not until summer 2017 — which means that the season won't be eligible for the Emmys.
Some good news though for fans of The Leftovers: Because of Game of Thrones' late start, The Leftovers will premiere in its place next spring.
