No fewer than 800 houses have been destroyed and almost 40 people injured with about 8 of them hospitalized with bone fractures, in the aftermath of rainstorm which wrecked havoc in some major parts of Maiyama Local Government area of Kebbi State.
The storm which was accompanied by heavy wind also destroyed electricity poles , transformers, water and schools facilities and this rendered several people in the area homeless as many of the victims affected by the disaster have sought refuge in their neighborhood within he community.
Discovered by a combined team of officials on assessment, they described the incident as a terrible experience as many people in the community have been affected.
Head, Nema Sokoto operations office, Mallam Suleiman Muhammad lamented that "about 800 houses were destroyed and slot of health, water, school and electricity facilities were completely damaged.
He also stated that means of livelihood like animals and properties severely affected following the rainstorm.
