Farmer fined £7,500 for beating swans to death with shepherd's crook

Farmer identified as David Thompson who beat two swans to death with a shepherd’s crook has been fined £7,500. he pleaded guilty at Canterbury Magistrates' Court in the UK to killing two birds and wounding another after he was caught on camera during a Coastguard helicopter training exercise in April.
The 80-year-old attacked the swans after seeing them eating his rape seed crop on his farm in Snargate, Kent.
Footage captured by the Coastguard pilots was shown in court which captured Thompson tossing one of the swans into a ditch at the edge of the field.
Kent Police searched the farm at around 11pm that evening after the Coastguard reported the incident and found the swans.
One was already dead and two others were critically injured. A second later died on the way to a veterinary practice for emergency treatment, Kent Online reported.

Swans are a protected species under an ancient charter and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The maximum penalty for killing the bird is six months in prison.

Kanye West is not getting out of hospital very soon

Kanye West is not out of the woods -- not even close -- because we've learned he will not get out of the hospital as planned. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation told us over the holiday, the plan was to release Kanye today, Monday. We're told his personal doctor was going to take charge of him upon release.

We're now told Kanye is still not stable and will not be released today. In fact, there is now no release date set, because he has not recovered from his breakdown a week ago.

As we reported, Kanye has had a rough time at UCLA Medical Center, struggling with extreme paranoia -- at one point he would not even let the doctors touch him.

Kim is still by his bedside ... which is where she has been almost nonstop for a week.

Nigeria airforce investigates cause of crash of presidential jet Agusta Westland 101

This is a press statement from the Nigerian Air Force.

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to media report on the crash of one of the Agusta Westland 101 helicopters handed over recently by the Presidency. Contrary to the crash report, it is pertinent to state that the mishap occurred while the helicopter was taxing after a successful mission.The incident happened last week on the tarmac at 33 Logistics Group, Makurdi. 

The NAF hassince set-up a board of officers to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the incident. The 7-man board is headed by Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Anebi. Details of the investigation would be communicated to the public as soon as the Board concludes its assignment.

Daycare worker caught abusing a ( month old baby and fractured the child skull

A Daycare worker, Afsana Shaikh, was caught on CCTV slapping and kicking a baby so hard that the infant suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding.
Shaikh was captured beating nine-month-old Ritisha Sinha during nap time at the day care centre in western India.
The horrifying attack took place on the infant's first day at the nursery, in the city of Kharghar, in Maharashtra State.
The infant's parents, Dad Rajat, 31, and her mum Ruchita, 29, said they discovered a lot of bruises after her mum picked her up from daycare.

Ritisha's mother, Ruchita, noticed a bruise on the infant's face when she picked her up. 
Rajat said: 

"Ritisha was fast asleep but there was a bruise under her eye. When my wife asked about it, the centre owner said she had hit herself while playing."Initially, we thought that Ritisha may have been stressed because it was her first day, and we believed the caretaker. But at home, she was crying continuously and refused to eat anything."

The couple discovered more bruises on their daughter's back and behind her ear.

The parents said Rishita also developed a fever and started vomiting. They got worried and took her to a doctor the next day.

A hospital CT scan later revealed that she had suffered a small fracture at the back of her skull, which had led to internal bleeding.

Rajat said:

"It was inhuman. The carer was manhandling my daughter - hitting her with toys and throwing her on the mat. "We just saw what she did to my baby, who knows how she is treating the other kids at the centre."

The owner of the daycare was arrested after the CCTV recording was viewed and the daycare worker was arrested as well.

The owner got released on bail while the carer remained in custody facing charges of child abuse and endangerment.

146 African migrants from an overcrowded rubber boat Rescued

Despite the rough seas and the unfavorable conditions, Malta-based foundation, Migrant Offshore Aid Station managed to safely rescue 146 African migrants from an overcrowded rubber boat.

Among them were 16 women, two of whom are pregnant, a child, and 27 unaccompanied minors. Most of the people rescued were coming from Nigeria and other West African countries.

"The worsening conditions of the sea seem not to be stopping desperate people from attempting the dangerous crossing"
